Profesora Nancy is originally from Bogota, Colombia. She attended a high school where students got real-world training to teach in an elementary setting. She got her bachelor's degree in Psychology and Pedagogy, taught elementary school for five years in Colombian public schools, taught two years in a private school, and now has a year experience at LILA teaching first grade. She came to the United States to continue her teacher career, pursuing a master degree in Spanish at Minnesota State University, Mankato. There, she got an assistantship teaching Spanish, tutored students, led conversation tables, joined conversation classes to help students improve their Spanish speaking proficiency level, and participated in diverse cultural events in order to share her Hispanic background with others. She lives with her husband Fred - a fifth grade teacher at LILA - and their daughter Luna. Profesora Nancy identifies with LILA's great leadership and curriculum. Most of all, she is eager to help each others succeed.
