Lakes International students will become tomorrow’s global citizens. And your help today can make a difference.
Donations Accepted From Individuals, Families and Corporations
Some people donate in honor of their children. Some people donate in memory of family and friends. Some donate because they support an educational approach with a global perspective and second-language focus. Some want a tax deduction. Some appreciate recognition for the donation while others prefer anonymity. Whatever your reason, trust that your donation to Lakes International Language Academy will go towards enhancing our community’s educational success.
Why We Accept Donations
As a public school, Lakes International charges no tuition and we receive funding on a per-pupil basis from the State of Minnesota. We’ve also received monies from federal and private sources through grants or donations.
We manage our dollars carefully, and we’re held accountable for our fiscal responsibility by the Minnesota Department of Education. Every aspect of our curriculum, including teacher salaries and student computers, has been apportioned. However, we would like to enhance the educational experience at Lakes International with your help. Our current target areas include:
- Technology
- Media/Library Resources
- Music
- Physical Education
- Playground
The Minnesota Department of Education approved and agreed to sponsor Lakes International Language Academy as an elementary charter public school in Forest Lake. We opened our doors September 2004 with about 175 students in grades K-4; we’ll add grade 5 in 2005 and grade 6 in 2006. The school offers two proven learning approaches:
- Spanish immersion, meaning that teachers deliver lessons in Spanish almost all day, so students gain proficiency in a second language while mastering required subjects.
- International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program (www.ibo.org) curriculum, emphasizing a global perspective and a strong foundation in all major knowledge areas.
Students are held to a high standard in traditional elementary subjects as they become proficient in spoken and written Spanish.
We’re committed to preparing our students to become responsive global citizens and lifelong learners. Please help now and together we’ll build a strong foundation for the future.
If you or someone you know is interested in giving to the school, please print out the form linked to below, and return it with your kind donation.
